Do you feel like nobody has been paying attention to your blog lately? Keeping your blog updated regularly is not an easy task to take on. Coming up with relevant topics, writing unique content, and engaging reader’s is difficult and time consuming. There is also the question of whether or not anyone will actually read the posts you are putting time and effort into. In the absence of regular readers, unfortunately, your blog will not make an impact on your business. However, there are some steps you can take to understand why nobody is reading your blog, and fix the problems so you can bring in some traffic. Here are some potential reasons your blog is sitting lonesome in a dusty corner.
This is one of the main reasons you will not receive much traffic to your site. It’s safe to say that most people will turn away from any blog content that bores them, isn’t relevant, or captivating in any way. Surprisingly enough, this seems to be how most blogs turn out anyways. The good news is, you can turn this around easily by adding distinctive, appealing content. Sound easier said than done? A simple way to get a head start is to find the latest trending topics within your industry and get some content going off of that. The subject is popular for a reason; use it to your advantage.
You just started writing
If you’re new to the blogging game, you’re going to have to exercise some patience. Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that your blog will blow up and go viral in a day. Even if you are generating some amazingly great content, it will still take time for you to gain a regular following. It may take days, weeks, or months before you are in your desired blog position, but don’t give up!
If you want to put your blog on the fast track to success, find similar blogs and offer your knowledge and advice to people. When you network with readers of similar blogs you are probably speaking to the same audience you want to attract, so let them know who you are. Pretty soon, the word will get around about your blog, and you will see an increase in traffic.
No doubt you’re an expert in your industry, and maybe your readers will also be experts too, but your blog is not the place to excessively show off. It is very possible that your blog visitors are not experts or anything close to being so. They may just be curious about a specific topic, or they could be trying to learn more through online research. Either way, you will be better off keeping your posts simple, using general wording and language, getting to the point, and avoiding anything too technical. People want things fast and they want them to be easy to reach, if you’re getting too complicated in your posts, readers will move on.
Self inflicted blogging doom
Another unfortunate fact about blogging is that readers will not magically gravitate to your blog, as it becomes wildly popular overnight, with little to no effort on your end. Your blog needs to be nurtured and grown by you, or someone else you delegate the task to. It will not prosper without your help, so make sure you are doing your part to be successful. At the very least, your readers should see a new blog post on a monthly basis, but weekly would be even better.
Signing up for social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc., and posting your blogs to these sites is another essential part of your blog. Engage your friends and followers, and try to get them to comment or participate with you on social media in some way. Reply to any comments you receive and comment on other posts as well. The more of a relationship you build with your followers, the more success your blog will see.
Although blogging isn’t easy, when done correctly, it can create huge benefits. We hope this post will help your blog reach new heights and add great success to your business!
